Potted history of Ceriani
Founded in 1964 by Arturo Ceriani. Previously an employee of MV Agusta, Arturo was encouraged by them to start his own company, producing suspension parts and magnesium wheel hubs. Originally designated as ARCES which appeared on the yokes of old CERIANI forks. It stood for "ARturo CEriani of Samarate". The original Ceriani logo, a castle, often appeared with the CERIANI name in adverts & literature symbolizing the strength of the parts they produced. Arturo’s son, Enrico was responsible for engineering, design & projects. The original Ceriani company closed in 1978.
In 1981, with the approval of Enrico Ceriani, Forcelle Italia produced his design 38, 40 & 42mm front forks under licence. Forcelle Italia went out of business in mid 1990's.
Paioli , in 1997, bought the remaining assets of the bankrupt Forcelle Italia company and began to use the name CERIANI.
Enrico Ceriani went his own way and continued designing forks and eventually formed, in partnership, G.C.B. Special Forks (Gazzaniga, Ceriani, Bianchi) in 1987. This arrangement lasted until 1997.
Enrico Ceriani died of leukaemia in 2001. There is no CERIANI company in Italy anymore, although Paioli continue to use the name.
